THE WARHAWKS STORY

The Warhawks was formed in the autumn of 2000 by Jonas and Magnus. Inspired by the wave of traditional and old school hot rods being built both in Sweden and in the US we decided to start up a 40's style club.

Our goal was to promote and build the kind of hot rods from the "golden era", 1930 to 1950. There has been many trips to swap meets over the years, hunting for those precious parts needed in a traditional hot rod. This has resulted in quite a big parts stash, but the expansion of the club is going much slower. The overall interest in car culture is low in this part of the country and that affects the growth of this club too, no new members this far...

The name is, of course, borrowed from the famous WWII fighter plane Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. Considered obsolete even before the war, it nevertheless performed well in many theatres in the early years. The most well known actions include the planes used by the UK in the Battle of Britain, the ones stationed at Hickam AFB who defended Pearl Harbor on december 7, 1941 and the volunteer group " Flying Tigers", which used P-40's against the japs in China.
